Resources for Current and Future Behavioral Health Workers in San Diego County
Amazing Incentives for New Workers or Those Advancing Careers in Behavioral Health
Launched in July 2025 and informed by community input, the first-of-its-kind ELEVATE Program was created through $75 million in funding to provide training, tuition support, upskilling, and other incentives to grow and strengthen San Diego County's public behavioral health workforce. Qualified participants can take advantage of:
- Zero-interest loans to those entering or advancing in public behavioral health careers through the San Diego Pay It Forward Loan Program
- Psychiatric nurse practitioner grants
- Peer support training grants to train and retain peer support specialists
- Social work, therapy, and counseling internships providing paid high-quality internships for Master’s level students in public behavioral health settings
- Specialized apprenticeship programs for substance use counselors, case managers, community health workers and other in-demand occupations
