Amazing Incentives for New Workers or Those Advancing Careers in Behavioral Health

Launched in July 2025 and informed by community input, the first-of-its-kind ELEVATE Program was created through $75 million in funding to provide training, tuition support, upskilling, and other incentives to grow and strengthen San Diego County's public behavioral health workforce. Qualified participants can take advantage of:

• Zero-interest loans to those entering or advancing in public behavioral health careers through the San Diego Pay It Forward Loan Program
• Psychiatric nurse practitioner grants
• Peer support training grants to train and retain peer support specialists
• Social work, therapy, and counseling internships providing paid high-quality internships for Master’s level students in public behavioral health settings
• Specialized apprenticeship programs for substance use counselors, case managers, community health workers and other in-demand occupations
